Musculoskeletal pain, minor sprains, strains, and inflammatory conditions are common health concerns that often require effective and convenient pain management. Conventional oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as diclofenac, provide effective relief but may be associated with systemic adverse effects, including gastrointestinal irritation. This project proposes the development of a Diclofenac–Aloe Vera Pain Relief Bandage, an innovative topical medicated dressing designed to deliver localized analgesic and anti-inflammatory therapy while promoting skin comfort. The bandage combines diclofenac sodium, a widely used NSAID that inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes to reduce pain and inflammation, with Aloe vera, a natural bioactive ingredient known for its anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, soothing, and wound-healing properties. The formulation is intended to provide controlled transdermal drug release directly at the site of pain, thereby minimizing systemic drug exposure and improving patient compliance. The bandage is expected to be fabricated using a biocompatible polymer matrix with suitable adhesive properties to ensure flexibility, comfort, and sustained therapeutic action. The developed formulation will be evaluated for its physicochemical characteristics, drug content uniformity, adhesive strength, skin compatibility, in vitro drug release, stability, and analgesic performance. By integrating a synthetic anti-inflammatory drug with a natural therapeutic agent, this novel pain relief bandage aims to provide a safe, effective, and patient-friendly alternative for managing localized pain associated with muscle fatigue, sports injuries, joint discomfort, and minor inflammatory conditions. This approach has promising potential for affordable, non-invasive, and convenient pain management in both clinical and home-care settings.
